Your Mission:

Hydrostor is seeking a qualified and suitably experienced engineers or technical project managers to join our rapidly growing engineering team. Reporting to one of our four engineering directors, you will be responsible for key workstreams on a major long duration energy storage project development. To excel in this role you will be an excellent communicator, skilled at coordinating workstreams, people and consultants.

Candidate/Employee Overview:

We are seeking a Project Engineer / Project Manager with a strong technical background with multi-disciplinary/project engineering experience. You will work well in a fast-paced, infrastructure development environment within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team and be comfortable leading your own workstreams, packages and programs, coordinating support from specialist SMEs, consultants and management to deliver outcomes on time.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering, major infrastructure development and/or project management in a technical capacity
  • 2+ years’ experience in the energy sector in Australia. More experience will be highly regarded
  • Australian recognised engineering degree, or project management degree with demonstrated technical experience/capability
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled in the use of MS Office tools – Word, Excel, Sharepoint
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings, models and documentation
  • Willingness to learn, take on responsibility and operate in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Both general technical skillsets and more specialised experience is desirable

Advantageous Skills and Competencies

  • Background/demonstrated experience in process modelling, process design, mechanical piping, HV electrical systems, plant control systems, mechanical systems, rotating equipment, bulk civil works and synchronous power plant operations
  • Multi-disciplinary experience spanning the above disciplines will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience writing technical documentation, as well as reviewing documents, drawings and standards. Work samples are encouraged.
  • Demonstrated experience with thermal water storage systems, compressed air systems and/or large diameter piping
  • Experience in pre-FEED and FEED design phases
  • Experience managing technical and non-technical consultants, including managing budgets, relationships, deliverables and timelines
  • Experience in an engineering design consultancy, with an energy developer or in an Owner’s Engineer role would be highly regarded
